Our aim is to provide a quality, comfortable and well equipped holiday cottage from which you can enjoy your holiday in Ingleton. We are very pleased to be able to share some of the kind comments/reviews left by our guests in the visitors' book. We would like to thank our guests and we hope to see them again soon:

Feb 10	Thank you for a great stay and a very informative pottery course. The cottage is well-equipped for a relaxing, peaceful and comfortable stay. It is very handy for parking and being within walking distance of shops, pubs, coffee houses and the most spectacular walks. The Falls are an absolute must. We found all the local people to be friendly and welcoming which made the stay a memorable one.
Feb 10	This was our 2nd stay in Acorn Cottage this year and as ever it has been another excellent experience. Once again, we found good food at the Craven Heifer and the smashing fish & chip shop. We finally visited the Falconry Centre situated on the A65 heading towards Settle. It was a truly wonderful day as we were able to enjoy handling the owls as they flew onto the leather glove. We are looking forward to our next visit. The cafe in Brown & Whittakers is our new number 1, great cakes & coffee.
Feb 10	A lovely week, the cottage is perfect, so clean & welcoming. Great walks, fantastic food from the local butchers and greengrocers & delicious fish & chips.We all had a fantastic holiday and will recommend the cottage to family & friends.
Feb 10	We were only up here for a long weekend but have had a great few days. Cottage is lovely, so clean. Spent Friday with the 'Hawk Experience' in Horton-in-Ribblesdale which was great.
Jan 10	Very nice warm cottage to come back to after walking in the ice & snow! Good meal at the Marton Arms, Thornton-in-Lonsdale - a 15 minute walk but take a torch! Also good meal at the Craven Heifer. Ingleton Waterfalls Walk recommended.
Jan 10	Yet another delightful stay here in Acorn Cottage and what a contrast to our last stay back in November. After our arrival, we woke to 8 inches of snow and spent the early morning helping to clear the close of snow. Changes were once again evident in the village - this time seeing the Three Horseshoes closed but the Wheatsheaf much improved, another fine meal at the Craven Heifer on a bitterly cold night and the new landlady at the Marton Arms bringing that pub back up to its former glory. Whilst we both love to cook, we found the range of ready cooked frozen meals at Pearsons butchers to be excellent. We both look forward to returning yet again to this lovely village with its welcoming residents where we feel so at home as we constantly hear the words 'ay up, back again then'.
Dec 09	We had a lovely New Year break at Acorn Cottage. We found it to be so comfortable and cosy with everything we could need. Clapham was beautiful and we had a walk up towards the caves. We had a day out in Skipton and visited the market which was fun, we also loved Kirkby Lonsdale. The Craven Heifer pub is worth a visit as we had a lovely, reasonable meal with friendly service. We hope to come again and will defintely recommend the cottage to our friends and family.
Dec 09	A fabulous Christmas break. The cottage is lovely & we hope to be return visitors. The weather was very Christmassy and we loved sledging in the field at the back of the cottage. Our meal at the Craven Heifer was very good and the Ingleton climbing wall was also great fun.
Nov 09	So good to return to this comfy home. We felt relaxed within 1/2 an hour.We enjoyed cooking again in the well-equipped kitchen. It was good to see our favourite places again, but a first was a trip to Carnforth and the Brief Encounter refreshment room at the railway station visitors' centre. Hope to be back next year.
Nov 09	We've had a brilliant stay in this gorgeous cottage that is perfectly equipped with everything we needed. Ingleton is a good central base for the hundreds of places to visit. We recommend the walk around Malham Cove, a drive from here to Sedburgh via Dent, the pink cake shop and a return visit to here!
Nov 09	Our second visit this year to this wonderful cottage. As on each of our previous visits here the cottage and its facilities are faultless. Twenty of the Grimey Lymies Mountain Bike Club all came up to join us for the weekend and thanks to the staff of the Craven Heiffer, we were all treated to excellent hospitality. Thank you Lee for leading the brilliant mountain bike ride on Sunday and thank you Jenny for telling the ladies about the pink cake shop, tucked away by the Co-op.
Nov 09	A lovely warm & welcoming cottage in an excellent location. Ingleborough Cave worth a visit - though wear boots if wet, we had to paddle! Skipton Castle excellent and a nice retreat from the rain. Waterfalls Walk was spectacular - all the rain was useful for something! The Marton Arms in Thornton-in-Lonsdale was excellent - log fire, warm welcome, 7 real ales, good food and only a short walk.
Oct 09	Another great week. Holker Hall, Appleby on the train, Sizergh Castle, Hill Top - lots of great days out. The 'pink' cake shop is a wonderful addition to the village - worth every calorie. Also had a good meal at the Hill Inn. Cottage has been perfect for us & the toys & DVDs all well used. Babysitting service makes all the difference - thank you.
Oct 09	Clean comfortable and cosy. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ingleton. Many interesting places to see in the neighbourhood. Holiday was all too short.
Oct 09	Enjoyed our stay with our 2 young toddlers. A very clean, well-equipped place - will definitely recommend to friends. We hope to be back soon.

Sept 09	Return visit - a real home from home. The cottage is spotlessly clean and well-appointed, couldn't have asked for more. Chip shop is as good as ever.
Sept 09	Returned this year for yet another perfect week. Cottage felt like home, suggest George & Dragon at Wray - do nice selection of vegetarian meals and perfectly cooked fresh vegetables.
Sep 09	The cottage is perfect & equipped to a very high standarfd. The area is delightful. We particularly enjoyed White Scar Caves & Kirkhby Lonsdale - not to mention Norber Erratics - fantastic. We have met some great folk round about - always friendly & helpful & great fun. We had a fantastic meal at the Old Hill Inn, great food especially the puds and fantastic hosts.
Sep 09	Had a fab relaxing stay in the cottage, great location and fantastic equipped cottage. We were lucky with the weather, even managed to BBQ one night, local butcher's sausages are lovely. Ate at Wheatsheaf, Craven Heifer and fish & chip shop , all good.
Sep 09	Had a great holiday despite rainy weather. We recommend a visit to Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle.

Aug 09	We've had a lovely holiday in this beautiful area. The cottage is a real 'home from home', clean, comfortable and well equipped. The toys were much appreciated by the children. We are very much looking forward to hopefully making a return visit and exploring more.
Aug 09	Our return visit has been a delight. The cottage is so nicely done and we feel really at home here. Ingleton is still lovely and we were in the outdoor pool 3 times. Nice selection of kids' DVDs. We still think there is more to see and do around here, so may well be back again.
July 09	Clean, comfortable and cosy, we have had a fantastic week. Thank you for everything and I will be re-booking when we arrive home tomorrow!
July 09	We've had a lovely fortnight in the Dales in a fabulous cottage. We'd recommend the new soft play area (The Zone) near Carnforth, The Nosebag Cafe in Bentham, Fell Foot Park at Windermere, a trip on the Settle-Carlisle line, the Ingleton Waterfalls Walk, all the 'cake' places in Ingleton and lots more.
July 09	We really enjoyed our stay in your cottage - very comfortable, well stocked kitchen and, most importantly, a good large screen tv to keep up-to-date with the tennis. Will certainly recommend to friends.
June 09	Great time in a lovely cottage, great weather. Food good in the Mason's Arms. Lovely village with many things to do. Will return in a couple of years.
June 09	A well equipped cottage in a lovely village. A warm welcome everywhere and Peppe makes fantastic pizzas. We will come back again.
June 09	A lovely cottage in a fantastic location. Will hopefully be back to fully explore the area. The provision of cot, stairgate, children's toys etc is really appreciated.
June 09	All of us have had a wonderful time. Lovely cottage and great little village. We found the people very friendly especially at Curlew Crafts Cafe. Lots of things around for our 2 year old to do. We loved the pottery in the kitchen so much we visited Bentham Pottery and we purchased some. Very toddler friendly cottage.

Apr 09	A perfect place to make happy family holiday memories. We've had a lovely relaxing week. The cottage has proved extremely comfortable - even our 2 toddlers went happily to bed every night - astonishing! Thank you for your suggestions of child-friendly places to visit - we tried almost all! We can highly recommend the Safari Ride at Thornton Hall Farm - exhilirating. The play area at the National Trust Fell Foot Park is also truly special. We can't wait to come back - there's so much to do, we could fill weeks and weeks. Thank you.

Mar 09	Thank you for a wonderful & relaxing week. There was everything we needed in the cottage - we cook each evening so kitchen gear is important. Good to find the butcher still provides excellent meat etc. All in all , just what we needed.
Mar 09	We really enjoyed staying at this excellent cottage. It is very clean, cosy & comfortable. The walks around the area have been very tranquil & the views outstanding. We are both agreed that the standard of the cottage has been far superior to anything we have rented before.
Mar 09	Thank you for a lovely time. This was our son's first holiday & having a washing machine, steriliser etc have made things much easier. We enjoyed the Waterfalls Walk & also visited Hawes & Clapham. Would recommend the local butcher for very tasty sausages & the Italian takeout pizzas.
Feb 09	Back once again to this lovely cottage after our most excellent week back in Nov 08. As ever we have found everything in the cottage to be first class. The village continues to change each time we visit. This time, the Wheatsheaf has closed once again but both the Craven Heifer and the Masons Arms continue to offer some nice food and good ales. Looking forward to coming back again once the summer tourists have gone home. Thanks to Lee at Bentham Pottery whose wares can be recommended both for our home and as original presents.

Jan 09	Wonderful cottage, everything we needed. This is our first visit to the Yorkshire Dales as we usually go to the Lake District, we will be back to this area very soon. Thank you.
Dec 08 - Jan 09	The best place in the world! [Note from Jenny, possibly a slight exaggeration.] Warm as toast and beds are comfortable. The best location in Ingleton. Good view to watch football matches. (Samuel aged 11.) A truly good place. The Wheatsheaf does very good food as does the Craven Heifer. Acorn Cottage was home for us for over 4 weeks. Everything we wanted was here, very comfortable & warm. Even had snow.

Nov 08	Great cottage - we loved being so close to the centre of Ingleton. The toys, DVDs & babysitting made all the difference - thank you. The playground was a big hit.
Nov 08	Our second holiday this year at this most excellent of cottages. The Craven Heiffer has continued to improve and our meals there have been excellent. The Wheatsheaf is now much improved since being taken over and once again has provided us all with good fare. Inglesport Cafe deserves praise, once again, although this time under new ownership. Catering for 9 hungry mountain bikers proved no problem for them and & food was wonderful. Pearson's Butchers can also provide all your pies & pastries in addition to some find meats. Booths supermarket just up the A65 in Kirkby Lonsdale is good for provisions. Looking forward to our next visit to Acorn Cottage.
Nov 08	Super cottage in great location. Waterfalls Walk is spectacular and dinner in the Marton Arms delicious. Peppe's take-away pizza just right after walking on the fells.
Oct 08	Wonderful cottage. Very well presented with all that we needed. Our 15month old daughter very much enjoyed exploring. We all had a very enjoyable stay despite a week's worth of rain. Lake Windermere is well worth a visit and there is a great aquarium at Newby Bridge. Also Bowness-on-Windermere is a lovely place to walk round plus there is the World of Beatrix Potter which is a must for those with younger children.
Oct 08	An excellent cottage, spotlessly clean and with everything we needed. Children enjoyed their stay especially the play area in the village. Hopefully we will return before too long. Had a good meal at the Craven Heiffer and Sunday lunch at the Wheatsheaf (was OK).

Sept 08	Had a good relaxing family weekend - seen the Ingleton Waterfalls and the showcase cave at Ingleborough. Not too sure about the Mason's Arms. Would love to come again.
Aug 08	Very nice stay, comfortable cottage, good location. Couldn't find a shower mat anywhere, a bit slippy for having a shower. Response from Jenny - have supplied one now.

Aug 08	Lovely cosy comfy home from home cottage, will definitely come again. Cottage is well equipped and beds very comfy - even our children slept in!! Information folder very handy. Recommend Hawes for day out with children. Loved the playground. Unfortunately too cold to try outdoor pool but Kendal has very good clean, indoor pool.
Jul 08	Cottage had everything we needed & was very comfortable. Great walking area - any walk from Wainwright's book in the cottage was excellent - we did walks from Ingleton, Malham & Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Recommend Booths @ Kirkby Lonsdale for bottled ales & food and Pearsons in the village for pies & meat.

Jul 08	A delightful, comfortable and well-appointed cottage. An excellent base for exploring the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The village caters for pretty well all daily needs. We ate out locally only at the Craven Heifer but twice and found the meals tasty and inexpensive and the service friendly. We would love to stay at Acorn Cottage again. We shall certainly recommend Acorn Cottage to friends.
Jun 08	What a wonderful holiday. From the very start we have felt very welcome. The house was fantastic, very well equipped and immaculate. I have been coming to the Yorkshire Dales all my life and have found it to be a wonderful experience to share it with my husband and children.

Jun 08	Beautifully located & equipped cottage. Excellent base for exploring the area, be it walking or sightseeing. Enjoyed great weather & many of the local walks. Eating out? Well, give the Marton Arms a miss until they sort themselves out! We found the Old Hill Inn expensive but very good & atmospheric. The Craven Heifer food was really excellent value for money. Hope to return.
May 08	We've had a wonderful stay, the "added extras" have made the stay perfect, from the milk and cake on arrival, the toys and books that kept us sane to the kids' safety items that kept our daughter secure and safe. The cottage is perfectly located for exploring the Dales and the Lakes. We couldn't have asked for more. We even had sunshine all week.

Apr 08	Thank you very much for a lovely stay. Very clean cottage, comfy beds. Very handy for the village too. We had a great time learning to throw pots at Bentham Pottery with Lee. We loved the Old Hill Inn, Chapel-le-Date. Very, very good food - more good quality restaurant food than pub grub.
Mar 08	What a lovely cottage - cosy, attractive and v. comfortable. Lots of nice finishing touches & thoughtful attention to detail. A really peaceful haven and a great base. I'm sure we will be booking again, in fact we are already planning our next visit. There's loads to do and its a great place for small children.

Mar 08	Thank you for the warm welcome. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your cottage. The weather has been variable (including snow) but we have managed walks from Ingleton, Chapel-le-Dale, Clapham and Settle. The village playground is very good and the playing field has been handy for several activities.

Feb 08	Good, friendly emails made us feel welcome even before we arrived & it lived up to expectations. Thoughtful 'welcome pack' very much appreciated. Perfect location for the village and surrounding area - tucked away from traffic, but within easy reach of routes to the venues where we performed in the North West. Food at the Mason's Arms was excellent, the village chip shop was good, and we even had the 'Bellybuster' breakfast at the Inglesport Cafe. Thanks Jenny & Lee, we'll certainly recommend you.
Feb 08	A lovely place to stay, very clean and everything we needed. Thanks to Lee for the whistlestop tour of Ingleton when we arrived. We enjoyed the Waterfall Walk and Ingleborough!! We are probably going to come back again some time and we'll be recommending Acorn Cottage to friends.

Feb 08	We have had many short breaks here in Ingleton and we are pleased to say that Acorn Cottage rates as one of the best. As many have said, "Thank you for the cake and milk upon our arrival", much appreciated. We have wanted for nothing in this delightfully furnished cottage save perhaps for a pint glass in order to savour the excellent local beers available from Booths supermarkets. Once again we have found Pepe's Italian restaurant to be very good along with The Craven Heifer and both Masons Arms and Marton Arms. The previously excellent Wheatsheaf no longer serves the great variety of ales it was known for. Pearson's Butchers sell some of the best meats we know of, try them out. Inglenook fish & Chip Shop in the village is very good indeed. Response from Jenny - Have now purchased 8 beer glasses.

The village of Ingleton is very well located for access to all attractions in the area. The service from the local shops has been excellent - everything we needed. (Suggestion, egg cups & a cruet set would be useful.) Response from Jenny - good idea, I'll get some.

Dec 07	A really nice family cottage. Thank you for all the bits & pieces, we have had a lovely stay. Lots to do and we have found the information leaflets really useful. The Fenwick Arms is a bit of a drive but worth it and New Year's eve was spent at the Old Hill Inn where the food was excellent. We will definitely come again in the future.

Sept 07	Thank you for a wonderful weekend. The comfort of the cottage was just what we needed after a long & fun day caving. Dave from ' Yorkshire Dales Guides' was fantastic. White Scar Caves is well worth a visit but would recommend driving there as walking was a bit tough. Ravenous (restaurant) was lovely but we did spend a small fortune. Hoping to visit Bentham tomorrow to see Lee's beautiful pottery. Thank you.

Aug 07	Fabulous week, lovely cottage. Waterfalls Walk is a must. A very nice evening at Settle and went to a restaurant called Ravenous. Swimming pool at Ingleton is very nice but need warm weather. The local Co-op is only walking distance away.
Aug 07	A lovely comfortable cottage - very well-equipped & we appreciated the comfy beds. The playing field at the back is really useful for letting off steam & the kids loved Ingleton Playground. Wish we could stay longer - we will definitely come again.
